what about unquantifiable feats and author induced stupidity grin? Stuff like, he moves so fast, he was shooting rainbows out of his ass. Or , he screams so loud that the dead were scared...

The former is a gag feat, the latter is a metaphoric expression.

Both of those things are pretty much unquantifiable because they can’t be linked to real phenomenon.

yes , i agree, but what if someone brings unquantifiable feats like those as arguments in their debates ?

what about the types of calcs typically employed by the likes of gunboat and astner, where it’s all simple author info, but complex math?

If all the information is given, then it’s alright. This basically means no pixel scaling.

For the anti-trolling rule, I foresee potential difficulties in distingishing between “arguments that nobody agrees with” and “arguments that have been debunked." Some further points of clarification will be needed.

While I am initially confused by the new Vs. Casual thread, it did seem like a nice way to separate the serious from the troll. Strangely, I think the OBD did this long before us.

Lol you guys never agree on anything so who gets to decide if someone was “proven wrong”?

I’m considering asking for a handful of intelligent non-versus posters to occasionally act as a “committee” or sorts. The arguments can be gathered, names of the posters excluded, and posted in a thread. Those who have no VS bias can then evaluate the two arguments and decide which one makes more sense logically. It’d remove most of the issues in determining when an argument has been debunked.
