It’s aimed at a young audience.

Most of us Americans nowadays generally don’t give a fuck about cartoons so the animators and their studios generally don’t give a fuck about what they make or how it’s handled.

It’s a known fact that American industries place profit over product quality, and the animation side of it is no different. Ultimate Spider-Man got dumbed down for children because the clown in charge of Marvel animation (and Man of Action, sadly) decided to pander to children as much as possible, to the point of spending a lot of time talking down to kids. Cartoon Network finds that predominantly comedy shows get them better ratings and merchandise sales, so they advertise the hell out of those and leave their action shows to rot (so they can justify cancelling them). Nickelodeon just keeps milking Spongebob and running Fairly Oddparents into the ground in hopes they’ll remain profitable.

Aside from the Marvel side of things, at least Disney has SvFOE, Star Wars Rebels, and Gravity Falls. The other two networks only have one show each that has me interested (Steven Universe and TMNT2012).

That said, I don’t necessarily think the rest of CN’s lineup is terrible, but for the most part their humor doesn’t appeal to me.

EDIT: Also, don’t remind me of those painful hiatus'. Gravity Falls gets like one episode every few months.

But even then, if you got something worth watching, it’s not uncommon for there to be long ass hiatuses.

Star vs The Forces of Evil aired 4 fucking episodes, and is now on a 4-6 month hiatus despite having season 2 already green lit

1. Overpaid animators
2. Much smaller demographic than Japanese animation
