Gaius stood in the middle of a farm field part way from the main road. He honestly had no idea where his wife and his two kids were at that moment but he knew one thing - another kill was done.

A small village about fifteen miles from Imperium territory going by the name of Serent had been having a rather large goblin infestation. Gaius just cleared that up for them. He sword was drenched in goblin blood as he wiped it off with some cloth stolen from their den. Waiting in the field for his family could take a while, but he didnít have a problem with the wait.

Alandra’s cold, grey eyes scanned the clearing through the low brush. A soft wind stirred the ends of her dark, red hair, lifting them up in the breeze. She cursed softly, her body sliding through the dirt and rock as she inched closer, hoping to get a better look at the band of soldiers that had made camp in the forest before the sun had set. Her eyes narrowed, hot anger rushing through her as her fingers squeezed against her palm, nails digging deep into her own flesh. How dare they? She thought to herself, her head spinning with anxiety. They dare come in to this forest and kill my people? We did not want this!

She took a deep breath, letting the anger calm. It would do no good to go in to this without an even head. She let her eyelids sink, her vision going black as she rested, a few stray raindrops beating against her back as she lay in the dirt. Her mind drifted, new thoughts coming in. Her breathing slowed.. Her people? Her lips curved into a frown. Were they her people? Her brow furrowed together as she thought. They took her in, did they not? They feed her, they clothe her, they teach her.. but they aren’t the same as her, are they? A different race, yes.. a different species even. She gave herself a mental shake and took a deep breath. She would protect them, regardless. No one deserved to be slaughtered.

Her fingers relaxed. Her lips, red against her pale face, returned to their usual smirk. She let go of all her thoughts and focused on the group in front of her. Her eyes opened wide, and the color shifted. A familiar warmth spread through her body as a muffled buzzing noise sounded from the very air around her. Her smile grew, the familiar feeling of magic spread throughout her, relaxing her. Her grey eyes lightened, turning a brilliant silver in the moonlight. Her surroundings fluctuated. The area around her darkened. She lifted herself up in one fluid motion and began walking confidently in to the clearing.

The forest had gone. The fires smothered themselves out, and even the moon and starlight offered no light for the weary men in the clearing. Silence rung throughout the small area. Then, a stifled sob, the soft thud of something heavy hitting the ground, and the metallic odor of blood.

“Izael, wake up. It’s time to practice your abilities.“ The man who stood over Izael’s bed was dressed on heavy armor. A man with the rank of,Corporal. Izael opened his eyes. He had it pretty good here. He got to sleep in much more than the other soldiers and got a nicer meal.“Good. You’re awake. Now get out in to the fields once you’re ready. You know the drill.“ He said before leaving the room. Indeed he did, after all they have been getting him to hone his skills ever since they knew about it.

He quickly slipped on some field clothes and tied his hair back before going out to the field. Once there he saw to his left a cat,a dog, a goat, and a cow tied up and to his right he saw a broken sword, old armor that was worn out, and a rock.He already knew what these things were for.

He stepped towards the cat and knelt down to it, petting the top of it’s head. It purred as he did, but then it burst in to flames. The touch of a demon’s destructive nature killed it. This scared the other animals but since they were tied up they could do nothing but try to fight back as a single touch sent them burst in to flames. At least it was an instant death for them. No pain. No suffering.

Next he would go over to the broken sword. He concentrated on it with his mind, he saw the full blade in his thoughts before it was broken and he projected these thoughts on to the sword itself. Soon, the sword began to repair and after a couple moments it was as good as new. The recreation power he always had more trouble with. Perhaps because he was trained to be doing this the hard way, being able to repair things and create riches from out of harm’s way. He did the same thing to the armor as he did the sword, he imagined it new and projected his thoughts on to it, and as for the rock he touched it and imagined it was gold coins. When he took his hand off the rock 5 gold coins were in it’s place.

The corporal looked over his work. “Good job Izael. You’re getting better. Last year you could barely turn these rocks in to a single copper coin. I’m liking what the higher ups are doing with you. But that’s not all for today of course. I have a mission for you”

Adrianna was walking through the small village of Serent. She enjoyed long walks, and she knew Gaius well enough to know he did not mind waiting, so she did not make an effort to hurry. She just walked enjoying the delicious breeze. She thought to herself “Have I become so apathetic to deaths I can walk peacefully to meet my husband right after his slaughter of the goblins as if it were nothing?"

She had more experience with death than almost everyone she knew being a reknowned assasin in her former days. She thought having children would give her the simple life she was ready for, but it didnt. Even as she thought these things she knew they werent true, she could never settle for an average life.

Atlast she saw Gaius holding his blood drenched sword. Hey babe she said slightly far off in a manner as if it was an ordinary evening as if her husband did not single handedly administer a mini genocide.

Gaius glanced back and smirked. “Where are the children?" Gaius stepped out of the farm field. The winds were changing and the war was turning into something far more explosive. Gaius believed that more than just pitiful humans and misguided elves would be involved.

There was nothing more to be said really. Gaius had shed much blood of those he was tasked on destroying: some of them questionable. The Imperium had a bounty on his head and the elves wouldn’t be kind either. His children would become targets; lures and he couldn’t risk them being harmed.

“Adrianna, the children?"

She honestly didnt know how to awnser that question. The kids were not like Adrianna, they didnt enjoy long walks and so they took the shortest routes possible, while Adrianna had taken longer routes. In all honestly she had expected him to be there by now. But she didnt think they were in any danger, but she felt like Gaius did.

She tried to lighten the mood “Oh those lazy kids took shorter routes, they are slow walkers and are probably on their way” Besides she expected that her children would be able to defend themselves if the chance of them being in danger prevailed. She hoped Gaius didnt start freaking out and had as much faith in Commodus and Valeria as she did.

“I suggest we find them. We are leaving this village as soon as possible and heading into Imperium territory."

Looking around Gaius thought about what his next more was. He was a neutral party in a war that has been on and off as long as any sentient could remember. He would not die in those conflicts but he would help both sides upon a promise of money.

“I’m sure you remember a few months back we placed a bounty on someone’s head by the name of Gaius Septimus correct?“ the corporal asked before Izael nodded. “The dhampir right? Yes. You want me to slay him?" He asked, it wouldn’t be the first time he was called to assassinate someone. “Not quite. See we have a more interesting idea in mind. Intelligences spying on him and his lover say that his offspring are left unattended. As 'loving' parents they will want them to stay safe. That’s where you come in. We capture them and send you and a small force to keep them captive. Once they arrive, we will use his childrens' lives as a bargain chip. We use his great skills to make an attack on a elven trading route. Once that is done, we will have a nice advantage in the coming battle, and the elves will no doubtingly place a bounty on him and his family themselves. Which is why, if he does this he will get his children back as well as the bounty off his head off the table from us.“ the corporal explained.

Izael nodded “Understood. Where are his children?" He asked. “Just outside Serent. Not more than fifteen miles from here.“ He said, then pointed to a team of armored men on horses with another horse unmanned. “We’ve already prepared a steed for your departure.“

Izael got on the horses and began riding off, as he rode he saw as a boy, no more than 13 ran down the streets. Very well off if he was going to school. Not many kids were that lucky. He, himself would not have been so lucky if it had not been for his gift. He stopped his horse and the others stopped behind him, a tad confused. But he was their boss on this mission. “Hey kid." called out to the boy.

Light drifted through the green canopies overhead, twisting and coloring the shadows below in to new nightmares in the darkness. A soft breeze drifted through the clearing, shaking leaves and carrying away the sent of blood from the forest, her anger drifting away, as well. The moon shone brightly that particular night; large and the oddest color of yellow, a large blue ring encircling it. Trouble.. She thought to herself. She sat near a small, crackling fire, her steel grey eyes staring deep within the flames, as if waiting for them to do something. After what seemed like hours, the snapping of sticks and brush drifted through the wind to the clearing, sounding through the trees as if coming from all directions. Her hand reflexively went to the hilt of her dagger, body stiffening as her eyes brightened. She glared intently towards the path she had came from.

A tall man with silver-blonde hair emerged from the brush. He walked towards her with more grace than a dancer. She let her body relax as she glanced back towards the fire, ignoring the man as he clicked his tongue irritably. “You slaughtered them, Alandra.“ She heard his hair shift as he shook his head. “Why don’t you bring them in? I have told you, My Dear.. Captives are far more valuable than dead bodies.“

Her cold eyes met with his as she shifted her glance. “They slaughtered our people.. They deserve no better.“ Her eyes narrowed and her lips curled into a malicious grin. “Besides, their screams are more irritating than the smell of their dirty blood.“

He scoffed and made an impatient hand gesture. My people,“ Alandra’s heart skipped a beat and a pang of sorrow spread through her with that word. Her head bent lower as he continued. “do not care about the screaming. We merely want to do what’s best for the war. Don’t you want to do what’s best for the war, Alandra? My sweet?“ His voice was full of malice, contradicting his sweet words.

“I just want the slaughter to end..“ She choked back a sob as she looked around, for the first time that night, and took in her surroundings. The once green grass was stained crimson, puddles of thickening blood surrounding the ant ridden lumps of mutilated flesh that littered the clearing. “I want the war to end.“ She stated, more confident than before as she pushed herself up from the ground and began walking towards the forest path.

“Alandra.“

She paused, her feet coming together, her eyes never leaving the trees ahead of her. “Yes?“

“I need you to go with the caravan that will leave tomorrow.. We’ll be transporting gold to Ani’ja for our weapon supply. We need you to keep it safe.“

She gave a small nod and began walking once more. “Anything for my people..“ She murmured.

“Adrianna...this is a war. We both know what blood is...what it feels like, smells like...hell, I’ve tasted it. We cannot allow our children to suffer for the belligerent actions of pathetic elf and human politics. Let’s get them, report to Imperium territory and make ourselves useful in ending this war. I have been told a few towns over about a bounty on my head, perhaps if I surrender myself I can get that off my back by shredding the enemies of the pitiful Imperium." He paused.

If those animals go near my children...I’ll.. An image of Baldur flashed in his mind. Gaius grunted. I’ll make their deaths...slow...

He turned to Adrianna. “Let’s go. We need to find them and get to the border - at that point we split up. I will deal with the armored fools, you and the kids shall report to the refugee services." Gaius knew his wife was a trained killed - better than himself even; but she was the mother of his children and they needed her. He was what the Imperium wanted and they will get what they want.

Adrianna nodded, she had not anticipated something to happen so soon, but she herself was beginning to pick up on signs of danger. And when it came to protecting her children, she was extremely vicious and agressive in fighting. “[/i]Alright[/i]” she didnt say much she was mentally preparing for combat. She then dashed off, going as fast as possible till she met their destination.

_________________________________________________________

Valeria was pratically tip toeing through the forrest with her brother, Commodus. She felt danger coming, she doubted Commodus was getting the same sense, and she hated being considered an annoyance to her brother, so she didnt rush him or go any faster.

As she began walking more towards the small village of Serent she became paranoid enough that she couldnt conceal her senses anymore. “Commmodus, I think something is wrong I dont feel like were safe, I think we should pick up pace” She said it in her naturally timid and passive voice, not trying to seem at all bossy, she tried to come off more as if she was just nervous and scared rather than like she could tell Commodus what to do.

Gaius dashed off heading with Adrianna but turned off into the woods instantly. He got a familiar scent. Dashing over fallen trees and stones, he drew the sword.

Before Commodus could reply, the sword pierced through the brush right before his throat. Gaius stepped out of the brush and drew it back.

Gaius said: “Both of you, we are heading into Imperium territory. When we arrive, we shall split up. You and your mother are heading into refugee services and will be hiding out as I work things out with the Imperium. No questions."

Gaius put his hands on both their shoulders and moved them in-front of him; they moved towards the path and cut off Adrianna. “Found them..." He said with a smirk.

~~~
Commodus spoke up. “Father, why are we splitting up? You promised you would teach me how to fight and..."
~~~

Gaius looked at him. “I am not breaking a promise but if they knew you were the son of Gaius and Adrianna Septimus - they would kill you where you stand. I need to clear things up...you will learn to fight; I promise."

Gaius looked at Adrianna. “When we hit the border...you don’t know me, you never met me, you never seen me - nothing. I set things up with a merchant named Tiruk in the capital city; he set up documents in the Imperium census archives. Your new surname is Bronin; same for the young ones. Widow of a Vampore-Hunter named Syrus Bronin - killed by werewolves at North Path three years ago. Understand?"

Adrianna was cut off my a bust of speed, Gaius had found the children. It was expected he got there first, Adrianna was fast but Gaius was faster. She was in a mood for combat so she hated the fact that she had to act like she didnt know Gaius, but she understood why it had to be done. 'Aye Aye Captain” She said in response to her orders.

~~~
Valeria just listened to the orders silently. No objections or verbal compliance. She had no problem acting like other families though because she felt like she was the outcast of the Septimus anyway. Sometimes she despised being apart of an infamous family. It brought her alot of attention and prestige she supposed in some cases. But it didnt matter because she couldnt keep it, because she was much more passive than the rest of her family, she hated that she was usually automatically expected to be a fighter because of her last name.
Its not that she didnt like her family, she loved them, but she felt like the child her parents just tolerate alot of the time, she spent most of her time in her head.
“hey Chase, did you hear?“
“hear what?" Chase asked back to his classmate.
“the Imperium is gonna draft you.
“WHAT!?“ Chase was surprised by this, for even though he was on their side, he didn’t want to fight.
“Ya rumors got out about the robbery, the Imperium wants you to use your powers for them.“ Chase wondered of Mom and Dad knew of this, after all he was sure that they could bribe or convince the Imperium to not draft him in.
Undelt sat on a small ridge, the light of the moon giving the area a healthy glow. His teeth were digging into the left leg of a recently deceased male human, who had been slaughtered with his team on this ridge not even a few minutes ago. The large wolf had surprised them by launching himself out of a small wooded area nearby, and slaying them as they fled up the hills. It was funny, actually, to watch humans run away like the cowards they were.
Undelt tried to wipe the blood out of his fur, only to spread it around further. He grunted, as he continued to chew on the muscular and meaty leg. Until the scent of blood hit his nose.
He stood slowly, his large furry and clawed hands hanging down by his side, as his toothed snout pointed in the direction of the smell. It smelt far fresher, and most likely tastier. And as such, Undelt took a deep breath, and sprinted off.
through the trees he swerved and ducked, before silently coming to a slow halt as he moved into a clearing. He could see the grass coated in blood, and a few soldiers standing around, looting the corpses. He had no idea who these people were allied with, and so for now, stayed quiet, as he walked through the lined up corpses.
