“Uhh...“ Tara said at length as her head tilted ever so slightly. To her, it wasn’t really all that amazing, considering the pristine quality of memories in general. One was always able to recall objects in their pristine condition: she never knew anybody who remembered something when it was rusted, if they had an option. Yet a smile still crept across her lips, hiding her thoughts.

“Yeah, it is. Anything you like in particular?“

Rei nodded happily, the sick teen making his way over to a display featuring a sword. Caladbolg.

“I really like this one." he said. “I learned all about it just by looking at it. It’s seen a long, extensive history."

Elliot noticed a guy holding a sword. Observe....... Oh could that be THE Caladbolg
He walked over to the boy. He figured this guy must know what he is doing. Or at least have a skill that helps. Either way any allies would be good to have. Who knows how these fights are going to turn out.

Rei turned towards the other male.

“Yessir, it sure is!" he said with a smile. The boy seemed to be far too sick to be participating in the tournament. Maybe he was a spectator?

ahh. So are you a swordsman or something He asked the question in hesitation. After taking a glance at the boy, he doubted he was a fighter at all. However he still felt.... something from him.

“I am an Archer, mister." Rei scolded with a pouty look on his face. “Are you that naive as to think that someone of my condition could swordfight?"

“Oh?“ Tara stated to Rei as he mentioned a 'long history' with a particular sword they stood by. Her hands had folded behind her, left fingers wrapped about her right wrist, as she turned to look at the male who had coerced her over.

Yet, rather than be looking at the weapon, Rei seemed preoccupied with another individual. They didn’t seem especially amiable toward one another, yet the lack of a physical confrontation (yet, she added, to counter jinxing it) was sufficient for her to stay quiet and out of their way.

“Wonder where the announcement is,“ the masculine voice in her head echoed, and she had to pause at that. For a tournament, there sure seemed to be a relative lack of announcement, either to prepare for a battle or to arrange two people onto the field. Mayhaps they were still hoarding viewers into the stands, but one would think a briefing on the tournament tree would be made before customers were brought in....

Rei nodded.

“Caladbolg is believed to have been a mythological prototype to Excalibur, and was used by Fergus, foster father of Cu Chulainn. Fergus was tricked out of his kingship and later allied with Ulser’s enemy nation, Connacht. He cornered the enemy king who betrayed him during the decisive battle between the lands, but he was prevented from killing his target. He redirected his rage at the undesired turn of events upon three hills by utilizing Caladbolg to cleanly blast the off the tops of the hills like a long rainbow. It was also said that Chulainn died from a fatal blow from this sword." the child recited with a smile.

Oh, really? Emma pulled out an electric guitar from her duster and aimed it towards the arena. She held it like one would hold a sniper rifle. The guitar was black with pink strings. The base was star shaped and decorated with pink and gold glitter. She then imagined a bullseye target, and one appeared out of thin air.
Sounds... Interesting. She gently pulled one of the pink strings. One could hear the plucking sound as a laser fired from the tip of the guitar and hit the target, setting it on fire.
Bullseye! She cheered as she hopped up triumphantly. Though if one looked closely, you could see her chest jiggle >.>

“Wow, nice weapon. It looks as sexy a-" Khema started saying to Emma.

As everyone was getting to know the people around them, to some small extent at least, a sudden hush fell over everybody in the coliseum grounds. This wasn’t to say that people stopped talking, they simply stopped making noise. After about a panicked second of eerie silence, the crackling noise of a PA system going on echoed throughout the entire building.

“DON’T BE ALARMED," It warned the contestants, “THE SILENCE IS ONLY TEMPORARY TO ENSURE YOU HEAR THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE."

A short pause, then a completely different voice took over the announcement.

“Hello everyone, I’m the creator of the Forest Province, and also the organizer of the tournament you’re now a part of. Registration is now closed, and all two thousand, four hundred and seventy-six of you are accounted for. Yeah. There’s a lot of you guys."

There was another pause, to allow for a chuckle or two from the captive audience, but then he remembered no one could even make any noise. He continued quickly, trying to end the inconvenience as quickly as he could.

“So, uh, anyway... we were planning on just having a normal tournament bracket, but... there are way more of you than I was thinking. So, we’ll do something to fix that."

In everyone’s right hand, instantaneously, there appeared a blank white strip of paper about the size of a Yu-gi-oh card.

“In each of your hands, you’ll find a piece of paper. What each of you needs to do is pick a letter, any letter, and inscribe it onto the paper. Once you do that, you’ll... warp, I guess... into a blank room with everyone else that picked that letter. Once you are given the signal from our judges, you will all fight. Whoever’s still in fighting condition after a set amount of time will be allowed to continue into the main contest.
“Thank you for your time."

And with that, the announcement ended and the imposed silence broke.

Elliot shrugged.Trust me I’ve seen weirder. Besides, someone in... Your condition shouldn’t be able to be an archer either. Also did you know that Excalibur itself was a prototype. It is only one half of the true holy sword, however the second is lost. Well at least that’s how it worked in the game he beat yesterday. Whether there was any truth to that or not, he had no idea

Rei nodded and was about to mention the sword’s sheath, Avalon, but was cut off by the announcement. He fell silent, listening to the voice explain what was planned, and then paused. He then smiled and wrote down a Z. The end. Nothing left. Of course, that’s not why he picked it. He just liked the letter Z.

“Hmmm..." Khema looked thoughtfully at his paper.

“What letter are you guys gonna write down?" He asked Mike, Emma, and Jase. He didn’t really know what to put down, but being in a group would probably be more interesting than when he didn’t know anybody. Maybe U. No one ever thinks of the letter U.

Emma nudged Khema. Let’s write the same letter. She whispered to him. She figured it would be best to work in groups due to the possibility of alliances in the tournament.

The mythos only mildly piqued Tara’s attention, who regarded such tales and folklore as imaginative ventures. Her realm was more of mathematics and physics. It’s likely what made her as potent a threat as she was, being one of the only boundary manipulators known in the mental realm. The mathematics and mental calculations required to twist space and time so precisely were often reserved for the most sav--

Her thought was cut short by a sudden drop in volume. “Oh good, they’re quiet,“ the male voice in her head suddenly proclaimed. Apparently, he figured it was private enough that they could have their own little conversation, momentarily forgetting that she had become mute due to the restriction on their speech. He quieted as he realized that fact and the announcer began giving instructions.

---

“God, not sure why he couldn’t've just told us telepathically,“ she mused as she gracefully wrote down the letter J. Low on the letter frequency: not so low as to attract obvious attention, like X and Z, but not so common as to be most peoples' first choice. The fewer people she could have stuffed into a room at one time, the better. Nevermind that she felt most people would either be Jacks and Johns and such who chose the letter out of arrogance and ego or people of similar intellect who knew an all-out brawl would be pointless. After all, those of that calibre needn’t fight, just let the other brutes weed down the numbers.

“You don’t need to repeat my entire thought process ad verbatim, Ty,“ she whispered under her breath, mildly annoyed at the fluffy friend in her head who repeated her thoughts in literary form for God knows what reason...

“Yeah, sure." Khema said. “Here, let’s put down the letter 'U'."

He focused for a moment, and put down the aforementioned letter on the slip. It went red for a minute, then settled into another font of the letter U. Apparently, that meant it was finalized.

He gave a smirk to his new acquaintences and tore his paper in half. In a flash of light, he disappeared from their sight.

Khema was among the first twenty people to enter the room. Everyone around him was just looking around as other people popped in. A couple people waved, but no one gave any introductions yet. The population was growing waaay too fast.

Emma nodded and traced the letter U with her fingertip, leaving a trail of black ink. She blinked in suprise when the font of her letter changed, and was instantaneously transported to a mysterious room where around twenty to thirty people gathered. She assumed there would be more soon as she looked around for Khema. Before long, she spotted the male and ran towards him, though she took care not to run too fast or her guitar might slip out of her hands and get damaged. When she reached Khema, she greeted him with a poke in the neck.
