Yeah, since that situation actually did need violence, it’s quite obvious imo.
not sure what the point of this thread is.

Except he was able to resolve it without violence, so it didn’t NEED it.

How can a situation including a suicidal idiot be solved peacefully?

But violence would’ve made it better.

I’m not saying he should have pumped him full of lead, but a courteous nightstick choking wouldn’t have been out of place.

What I mean is when you see a crazy brat with suicidal behavior, the first impression you’ll get is that that kid had already made his resolve and will not back down, therefore the violent solution is the most assured to succeed, there was a chance that the kid wouldn’t listen and go on killing himself.

You make it sound like he had his hand on a button to blow up a bomb.
He had no weapons on him, he’s not just going to get a gun and start killing people in a split second, they had time

So you’re saying the Cops don’t want the KO count to be wasted, I think I get it now

“The officer showed a heartening level of restraint when dealing with a student, who was in his room with a knife and hammer, and was also threatening to light himself on fire."
Pretty sure the room isn’t a dining hall and those weapons were in reach.

Earlier on they said they were trying to prevent him from getting a weapon, so I don’t know, the article is shit.

Point is though

Instead of immediately resorting to violence, this officer was talking the student down and de-escalating the situation. The officer was successful in calming the student down and was going to get him a glass of water when the Marina police department showed up, and immediately began tasering the student.

Yes the article fails to describe the situation properly
but as it was explained, there was a big chance for that student to not listen to the cop and stab himself in a lethal place.
don’t get me wrong I’m actually satisfied it ended peacefully, but in such a situation when the most likely scenario to occur is the student killing himself, the cop should’ve at least tried to restrain him or knock him out temporarily.
the cop shouldn’t have been fired imo, but his act could’ve caused a tragedy.
