I despise them.. They go against everything that I think is morally right.

Really? Or were you being sarcastic?
Do you buy things that were made in sweatshops?

No, I wasn’t being sarcastic. It goes against my morals. Poor work environment is something I’ve been subjected to myself. So I know how that feels.. And I really don’t like children having to work their lives away for the benefit of other people.

As far as if I buy things that were made in them.. I wouldn’t know.. 90% of everything I get comes from Walmart.. So I really don’t know.

Haha, Walmart is the king of sweatshops. In fact they’re the main reason why most companies now have factories in foreign countries.

There’s a lot of arguments for cheep labour though...why do you think crap is so cheep at walmart?

Yeah.. I just finished reading an article on that.. Unfortunately Walmart is where I buy my stuff. =/

I can’t really afford $40+ for a shirt or $60 for pants.. I don’t even have a job.. And any money I do get I either save it because as I said.. I’m going to California next year or I buy GN something. lol

But I actually haven’t got clothes in a really long time. lol

Everything I wear now I got for Christmas last year.

I just hate the fact that by buying these things you contribute to a system that values cheep stuff over a decent livelihood of people.
It’s all on where your values are isn’t it?

And hey, I’m a university student living on a loan...I know all about not having money.

I buy my stuff second-hand...so at least I’m reusing the clothing. And I just buy less...so that I have money to buy things perhaps more expensive...but also more ethical.

In my eyes Walmart is a terrible company...so I boycott it all together. I live on a really tight budget but I manage to get by just fine.

I just think there’s a very tangible mental distance between peoples ethics and their actions.

If you were witness to or knew someone personally in a sweatshop situation. A boycott on those products wouldn’t seem so difficult.

Ah well, that seems to be the human condition...I suffer from it as much as the next person. Anyway I need to sleep now. Thanks for the comments. I invite you to leave moresmiley

But maybe think about it next time you buy something...even if it’s just to look at the label or stamp to see where it’s made.

That’s part of what I read actually.. At least I think it is...

I’m gonna stop buying from Walmart.. I don’t buy clothes but once a year really.. So it wouldn’t kill me to spend the little extra.. If I can get a job at least.

I think they are a wonderful idea, and that we will all benifit from them, but that’s just me.

I don’t go to Wal-Mart...

Not because I despise sweatshops (I’m not avid about it, but I kinda wish there was a better alternative), but rather because its not that cheap and its out of the way. I mean, we’ve been getting better deals (and quality) from stores around my area than Wal-Mart.

I love their chicken though...Is that bad?

Actually, don’t answer that because I don’t care.

they produce world of warcraft gold, people sitting at computers constantly playing for actual money, if it gets me a few thousand gold in warcraft, its fine with me.

Child Labor, thats different, i dont think children should work in an unfit setting, it should be outlawed.
