These are some of the most underrated legends.

Rakim, LL, and KRS are cool for being pioneers but in terms of talent, their not legends, and Nas is just overrated, besides Illmatic nothing is really woth listening to.

Rakim has classic material, he’s a legendary lyricist. KRS is nice, maybe not the best but far from the most overrated and I can’t say much for LL actually. And you can’t say with a straight face Illmatic is Nas' only good album.

NWA? Eh wu tang ontop of those guys, I don’t see why people love big l, and just cause they have sick beats don’t make the rapper sick, just cause u give a baby top secret files, dosnt mean he can do anything with
them,
does anybody think if Canibus' voice didnt sound like shit and more clear, he would be a popular rapper? His lyrics are good often

When a rapper dies you know he’s going to be hyped to one of the biggest figures in hip hop. 2Pac, Biggie, Pun and L were all great MCs but get too much hype. Imagine if someone like Eminem died, he already has the biggest fanbase in hip hop history.

Rakim like I said was a pioneer, but isn’t relevant now because he couldn’t adapt to the times, that’s why Jay Z is the best ever, he’s always been relevant, same with Em. Don’t even get me started on Nas, he’s fake as fuck, a hypocrite, and wouldn’t be shit if Jay Z never called him out.

Big L is a legend because he pretty much birthed the whole punchline rapping style, a lot of the shit he said in 96' is better than what rappers is spitting now, if he hadn’t of died he would be right up their with Jay Z. As far as Canibus, no he belongs where he’s at, nobody wants to hear him rapping about Moto atomic elements and bullshit like that.

Yep, you do have to adapt with the times. But when you do that, your material seems to start to get weaker and weaker even though you stay relevant. There’s not one rapper I can think of from the 90s that has had albums as great as their debut or first few albums. And damn, what did Nas do lol? He was hitting double platinum/platinum constantly even when he was 'falling off'.

John you can take your album sales chart and shove it straight up your candy ass.

Relevant? Fuck that, Nas makes song for HIS fans. Why change his style that’s considered good? Fuck the masses.

Mainstream can go suck my dick. Jay Z maybe making money, but he ain’t making classics no more.

Nigga you got shit taste.

Funny you name other top rapper of 90s from NY, like Wu tang, L, pun (latino bias) but don’t mention Nas cause he said the truth South sucks, slow jam fags and cause he destroyed Jay Z in their beef.

Nas wishes he had Jay Z’s career, he tried to go main-stream and failed horribly. He was an after thought before Jay Z mentioned his name on the Takeover. And he’s a huge hypocrite, Jay Z said it best

“Cause the nigga wear a kufi, it don’t mean that he bright
Cause you don’t understand him, it don’t mean that he nice
It just means you don’t understand all the bullshit that he write
Is it “Oochie Wally Wally” or is it “One Mic”?"

Nas raps some bullshit and because people don’t understand it they think it’s deep, when really it doesn’t mean shit. And he tried to play that gangsta role, changed his name to Escobar when he’d never even seen a gun until Jay Z showed him one and never sold drugs in his life.

Then he needs controversy to even be relevant after that, “Hip Hop is Dead” and then his next album was suppose to be called “Nigger." He’s just mad that nobody gives a fuck about him so he tried to diss what was popular at the time.

This is false. You’ve got it backwards, Jay-Z was always seeking attention. Before his debut in '96 he was always in the shadow of the big dogs and wanted to be recognized. Like Nas said, he kept his name in his music and even wanted to work with Nas for one of his tracks. Sampled his voice and took his style and Big’s.

Nas might contradict himself on tracks but shit, at least dude didn’t dickride to get to the top like Jay did. When Nas went mainstream, his success became MUCH greater. Look at Illmatic to It Was Written. IWW took a more mainstream approach and sold 2 million copies in a few months, it took years for Illmatic to go platinum.

And you can’t bring up Nas being a fake thug because EVERYONE was doing the mafioso rap shit. Raekwon did it, Big switched his style up to the mafioso gangsta shit, not just Nas. Nas did do a tiny bit of drug selling and Jay showed Nas a gun, not the first gun in his entire life. Also, why would Nas have to make himself relevant with those titles when every album before “Hip Hip Is Dead” and “Nigger” went platinum or higher? Maybe that’s what he was feeling on the album, for years he was talking about the decline in the quality of hip hop.

Lol, Relevancy, just because some wiggers ain’t jammin' Nas' shit doesn’t make him not relevant.

Hip Hop is for people from the streets, always has been and always will be. The shit Nas told in Illmatic is still relevant in places where it really matters.

Fuck all y’all wiggers.
