Basically this is a review thread for books you have read or currently finished. Do NOT reveal spoilers, just give the summary of the plot, and give your opinion on the book.
Rate it on a 1-5 star rating scale.

Now let me get this started.

Plot: A morning bartender named Billy Wiles gets through with his shift. He is a man that goes through life not expecting much, doesn’t get involved in controversy, and lets the world go to hell if it wants to.
One day he walks out from his shift and finds a note on the windshield of his car:

One of these notes starts affecting Billy personally, and Billy HAS to go find the killer otherwise, the killer is going to show him a place worse than hell.

My opinion: This was a definite five star book, the suspense was killer,Billy developed into a person you would not think he would ever be. This is a definitely a must read. This is my second favorite book of all time.

Butcher, I heavily disagree with that review, but I digress. I’ve recently finished The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly.

Summary: Harry Bosch is summoned into court for his brutal action concerning a serial killer by the name of Norman Church(AKA the Dollmaker). While the trial is in session,a body shows up that entails a relation. Showing up with the body though is a note of how this killer is the real Dollmaker and Bosch got the wrong guy. It could be a killer working with Church or a copycat or the real deal. You’ll have to read the book to find out smiley.

My Opinion: I’ve been a big fan of Harry Bosch since his first debut in The Black Echo. Always whimsical and observant. The ending also kicked some serious ass.

My rating: 4.7/5

Also I’m sticking this thread. Hell I might be able to build up another to-read list with suggestions(if people contribute).

Plot: Serial killer, who has a family(Surprising, huh?),and is also a Blood Spatter Analysis for Miami PD. A dead body turns up,and can’t identify anything about it because it is so mutilated. It’s up to Dexter, once again to get the killer before the PD gets to the killer.

My opinion: 5 Stars. It is a awesome book, with the greatest character in all of fiction. Dexter has probably the coolest dark humor I have ever seen. I still hate that they don’t show all the kills though.

I’m really bored, so I’ll just write a bunch of reviews tounge. This one is a review of Thomas Harris' Red Dragon.

Summary: Will Graham is the famous detective who caught Hannibal Lecter. At the beginning of the book,Will has to go to a house where a grueling murder took place. Bite wounds are located all over the victims,so the name they give this killer is “The Tooth Fairy”. Although Will is still recovering from his encounter with Hannibal(psychologically).

My opinion: Great horror/mystery novel. Francis Dolarhyde(the killer) is an awesome character. I actually found myself looking where he would show up next in the novel. Will is cool to,but not as cool as Dolarhyde.
Rating: 4.9/5

Plot: This is basically how life was like back in New York during the 80’s,other than that it is just a comedic, psycho novel.

My opinion: Bateman’s first person was fucked up beyond belief, the plot jumps around randomly,it is kind of like it is a whole book full of filler. Bateman was funny though, and I guess his kills were alright.

My rating: 3 out of 5

This review is about Turn Coat by Jim Butcher.

Summary:Harry Dresden has to help out Morgan?! Morgan shows up on Dresden doorstep bloodied and beaten and passes out in the doorway. It turns out that Morgan might have been framed for his crime against the White Council. Or was he? Dresden has to investigate and see what’s really puttin the hurtin on Chicago and the White Council. Oh and he has two days to do it.

My opinion: We really got to see the true side of Morgan in this novel, even his first name! I really can’t say more than that,a lot of stuff happens in this book.

My rating:5/5

P.S. One more novel to go and I’ll be caught up!Fuck yeah! And it’s the book called Changes to boot to!

This review is for Dean Koontz’s Intensity

Summary: Chyna Shepard has been a victim all her life. When she goes over her best friends house, a man by the name of Edgler Foreman Vess comes by to kill everyone in the house. Edgler does not realize he left one person alive. Chyna. Chyna figures out who Edgler’s next victim is and is in a race with Edgler to see who will get her first.

My opinion: Edgler is an awesome character. Definitely my favorite villain yet. He is an adventurous homicidal killer;it as also neat how he used letters of his name to spell words and form sentences. The book had a slow start but picked up as soon as Edgler was on the scene. I was even shaking because of the intensity of the novel

Rating: 5/5

This review is about Jeffery Deaver’s latest novel,The Burning Wire

Summary:The quadriplegic Lincoln Rhyme is back in action against a terrorist who uses electricity as a murdering weapon. Meanwhile Rhyme has to help a friend track down an old nemesis in Mexico. I really can’t give much without spoiling anything.

My opinion: Rhyme’s character is badass;it’s just as fresh as ever. The villain has very few parts, but overall he was pretty interesting.

Rating:4.6/5

This is a review of Heartsick by Chelsea Caine.

Summary: Archie Sheridan has been scarred mentally and physically from a psychopath by the name of Gretchen Lowell, who carved a heart into his chest. Archie is called back to the game of catching criminals, and clean. What people don’t know is that Archie is emotionless, and pops painkillers to help himself.

My opinion: This was a crappy book. Archie was SO emotionless he hardly ever spoke, and his little reporter friend,Susan, didn’t help anything either. I can’t believe people put Gretchen on the same level as Hannibal.

Review is on Velocity by Dean Koontz

Summary:Look at my brother’s first post regarding the summary.

My opinion: Boring. I got about 300 pages in,but Billy was so crappy that it was unbearable. The plot really moved at a snails pace to.

Rating: 2.4/10

This review is on Pet Sematary by Stephen King.

Summary: Louis Creed’s family have moved to Maine. Louis tries to keep his family under control and help them adapt. It turns out, beyond the house is a cemetery. The Pet Sematary. Some ancient power is at work there...

My opinion: This was an awesome book. Louis is the best developed character that I’ve ever seen. King also got some humor in there to.

My rating: 5/5

A female rises to the surface from the trench,to wreak havoc on the new world.

My opinion: Very well written, with a very fast-paced plot, plenty of gore to satisfy you gore freaks out there, and loads of humor.

Plot: two overlapping, intertwining stories, both of which center around Okonkwo, a “strong man” of an Ibo village in Nigeria. The first of these stories traces Okonkwo’s fall from grace with the tribal world in which he lives, and in its classical purity of line and economical beauty it provides us with a powerful fable about the immemorial conflict between the individual and society.

The second story, which is as modern as the first is ancient, and which elevates the book to a tragic plane, concerns the clash of cultures and the destruction of Okonkwo’s world through the arrival of aggressive, proselytizing European missionaries. These twin dramas are perfectly harmonized, and they are modulated by an awareness capable of encompassing at once the life of nature, human history, and the mysterious compulsions of the soul.

^ It a Goodreads summary,so sorry it is so long.

My opinion: I have never read such a horrible book in my life. The characters suck, the plot sucks, everything sucks about it. People tell me I should read this to learn something, but thing is I read to entertain myself.

This review is for The Watchman by Robert Crais

Summary: Joe Pike owes a favor to a man who helped him and his buddy Elvis Cole solve a case. The favor is to protect a 21 year old girl who is a witness to a crime. The killer is hunting Pike and her,but what he doesn’t know is that Pike was a former hit-man and ex-marine.

My opinion: If you like hardcore action novels, this is your book,if not skip it. Joe has the personality of a cardboard box and the plot is heavily cliched.

My rating: 1/10

The Brief and Wonderous life of Oscar Wao.

The Novel tells the tell of a Tragic Weebo nerd named Ci...Oscar Wao, a Dominican, Who is cursed with his overweightness. The novel talks about how his family used to be a prosperous one with many riches until its fall at the hands of Trujillo’s regime and back to the 70s-90s in Oscar’s time.

The author through out the Novel uses Oscar’s comic book allusion to describe certain people and things.

My opinion: This novel rocks. Has gritty dialogue and executes a perfect blend of real and comic book life. The only thing that plagues it the over use of of the tropes it relys on.

critics opinion: 9/10

Summary:An astonishing technique for recovering and cloning dinosaur DNA has been discovered. Creatures once extinct now roam Jurassic Park, soon-to-be opened as a theme park. Until something goes wrong...and science proves a dangerous toy....

My Opinion: I’m sure everybody has seen the poorly adapted movie by the same name, but the book is pretty good. The character’s are much more colorful than in the movie. There’s also a lot more science talk through the novel(not much dinosaurs though). It’s funny, gory, and very intelligent.

My rating: 3/5

This review is for Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes.

Summary: While studying the Harlem Renaissance, students at a Bronx high school read aloud poems they’ve written, revealing their innermost thoughts and fears to their formerly clueless classmates.

My opinion: I lost all respect for my English teacher after he read my class this. Have you ever read Twilight? It’s like that with no vampires and more poetry.
