With the upcoming release of Halo 4 and with all of the theories floating around as to what’s going to happen in it, I thought I’d create a thread dedicated to the Halo franchise.

I would like to point out that the “Ancient Evil” could very well be the Didact or the Master Builder.

Supporting that the Didact can be the Ancient Evil, here’s one terminal from Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Here, 343 Guilty Spark states that if the Didact were there during the Battle of Installation 04, “these Reclaimers might almost prefer the Flood."

Also, at the end of this trailer/gameplay video, you can hear a voice that says “I have long dreamt of this day Reclaimer." You can also see the Didact’s symbol, which is then inverted.

However, I discussed with a friend of mine about the Didact being the Ancient Evil and how this video supports it, and he pointed out that the Didact’s symbol was inverted, meaning that this could represent something very different.

Such as how the Antichrist is often associated with an inverted cross, the inverted Didact symbol can mean something that’s the opposite of the Didact. This leads me to believe that the Ancient Evil could be the Master Builder. I won’t give too much away, but let’s just say that the Didact and the Master Builder don’t really like each other.

I’ll post more of my own thoughts and theories later. Anyways, what do you think?

Unless chief gets a huge, and I mean HUGE, upgrade, fighting the Didact wouldn’t be a good idea.

infact fighting any Forerunner would be bad news for Chief.

perhaps the Didact becomes a goodie, who sees Chief as the enemy at first, but learns his mistake. or something along those lines.

could the ancient evil be a Precursor considering not a lot of info is known about them and it would be a good time to do so.

that would be even worse for Chief, considering the Precursors are not only stronger than, but also created the Forerunners.

I’d say that me might get a glimpse of the Precursors in 4, but they’ll be a large factor in 5 and 6.

if he has to fight them, via the power of plot, and possibly terrible story writing, he has a chance. tbh the Didact prob would be more interesting, at least for just Halo 4.

Like I said, perhaps the Didact helps Chief to fight an even stronger enemy

I wonder what the connection is between the Flood and the Precursors?

Also, has anybody wondered what that crashed vessel was on Installation 04?

There is also the possibility that we might fight another race created by the Precursors.

Halo wiki (I know lol wiki) states on the Precursor page that they created the Flood.

Yeah, the Precursors created the flood as a last “Fuck you, bitch” to the Forerunners.

but, i’ve also heard of the Flood coming from another galaxy. maybe a few Precursors survived the war, went to another galaxy and created the flood. but it escaped, infected the Precursors and decided to pay the Forerunners a visit.

True. I do think that it is likely that the Precursors created the Flood as a means to test a race in order to see if they are worthy of the Mantle. However, the Timeless One stated that the Flood and the Precursors were one and the same.

I meant when Halo 3 came out... Not what we know of already.

Well, I always did see the possibility of a fourth Halo. The Legendary ending to Halo 3 gave way to this.

The ending, especially the Legendary Ending, pretty much connoted a sequel to it.
